Antique Spanish painting from the second half of the 17th century. Oil on canvas artwork depicting a mythological subject, the Rape of Europa, of good pictorial quality. Legend has it that Zeus, in love with Europa, transformed himself into a beautiful white bull to be able to approach her. The princess, once mounted on the back of the animal, was kidnapped and taken to the island of Crete. Painting of great size and impact, for antique dealers, interior decorators and collectors of ancient mythological painting. Painting that has recently undergone a conservative restoration, relined and color recovery in some small points, missing frame. It has a small tear at the top left (see photo) that can be easily restored, overall in good state of conservation.
