Great 18th century Roman charity Italian painting

Antique Italian painting from the 18th century. Oil on canvas artwork depicting a historical-mythological subject, Roman charity. The myth in question tells the story of Pero, daughter of Cimone. The woman, visiting her father in prison and sentenced to death by starvation, offers the latter her breast. Pero is discovered by a jailer but her act of generosity is rewarded by officials who grant her father's release. Painting of great size and impact, adorned with an ancient, non-coeval, carved and gilded frame (bronze tint, revived in the 20th century). Work depicting Pero in flamboyant eighteenth-century clothes, with a pearl necklace and other jewels to embellish the figure. Painting that has undergone a conservative restoration, re-lining, replacement of the frame and color recovery in some points (see photo). Overall in good condition. Sight size H 101 x W 74 cm.
