Fabulously furnished painting complete with wooden frame of the 20th century carved, lacquered and gilded (see photo). Artwork of fabulous dynamism finely painted in detail. Rich scene with Galatea placed in the center, cupids, dolphins and a newt with a shell (see photo). On the left, the figure of the Cyclops Polyphemus with a flute is portrayed at the foot of a volcano. The myth tells that Galatea was in love with Aci, a beautiful young man, and that the Cyclops Polyphemus, envious of the young man and in turn in love with the nymph, one day tried to attract her with the sound of his flute, but without succeeding in his intent. One evening Polyphemus, seeing the two lovers in the moonlight, blinded by anger, threw a mass of lava towards Aci, leaving him lifeless. Painting that has undergone a conservative restoration, relining and color recovery in some points (see photo). In good condition with some signs of aging. Sight size H 94 x W 134 cm.
