Period & Style
Queen Anne, early 18th century.
This chest embodies the restrained elegance of the period, with a balanced arrangement of three short drawers over three long drawers. The design emphasises symmetry and proportion, enhanced by traditional detailing and original features that speak to its authenticity.
Materials & Craftsmanship
Crafted in highly figured burr walnut, the chest displays exceptional depth of colour and intricate grain. The crossbanded and moulded top is centred with a striking quarter-veneered lozenge motif, while the drawers are finely detailed with herringbone banding.
Each drawer retains its original brass drop handles and escutcheons — a rare and desirable survival. Raised on classic bun feet, the piece demonstrates the confident yet understated craftsmanship of the period. A deep waxed finish enhances the natural warmth and texture of the timber.
