Flemish painting from the 17th century, landscape with Saint Francis of Assisi

Ancient religious painting from the 17th century. Artwork depicting Saint Francis of Assisi in prayer immersed in a splendid landscape. Next to the saint (bottom right) we find another friar near a source. At the top left is a Seraph, the angels closest to God. According to tradition, in fact, Saint Francis received the stigmata from a Seraph who appeared to him in heaven. For this reason the Franciscan orders are called seraphic orders. A painting of great pictorial quality, in particular the naturalistic details and the rendering of the landscape. It features a plaque referring to the painter Paul Bril (1554-1626) and could belong to the Flemish school of reference given the layout and executive quality, which lack authenticity. Frame from the end of the 19th century in carved and gilded wood, beautifully decorated. Painting that has undergone restoration with relining, replacement of the frame and recovery of color in small spots, overall in excellent state of conservation. Sight size H 87 x W 112 cm.
