Great 19th century painting signed Henri Bidauld

Fabulous French painting from the second half of the 19th century. Oil painting on canvas, first canvas fixed on a wooden panel, depicting a popular subject, Laundresses at the river. Typical representation of the realist current where workers are depicted in real contexts, the artists in fact wanted to free themselves from bourgeois taste and academic subjects. Furthermore, there is no attempt to dignify their effort, they are concrete men and women. Artwork of exceptional size, ideal for placing in a large living room or studio, for antique dealers and interior decorators. 20th century carved and gilded wooden frame that has undergone a restoration with resumption of the gilding in some points (see photo).
